From Pharrell Williams to Serena Williams, Los Angeles-based photographer Steven Taylor has snapped candid, yet telling photographs of the world’s finest athletes, musicians and creative people. His acute sense of portraiture is immediately recognizable throughout his vast body of work, presenting intimate moments of calm with his famous subjects. Here, Taylor shares with us some recent photos from a show with John Mayer, as the guitarist tattoos himself after a show in Dallas. It’s rare to capture ‘firsts’ in the hectic days of larger-than-life performers, yet this photo set does well to capture the award-winning Mayer as a human – full with uneasiness and curiousness – as well as the relieved joy of baptism by fire. Enjoy the photo set above.
