It was a painter in the south of France that inspired designer Guillaume Henry in Paris. Set against the backdrop of a potter’s workshop, Carven‘s spring collection balanced bright colors with muted tones, and fashion with function. Most painterly were hand-drawn patterns like checks and brushstroke prints — along with floppy hats and shirts that recalled painter’s smocks — while blousons and shorts in relaxed, lightweight fabrics contrasted nicely with the season’s more tailored looks.
