It was recently announced that Sigur Rós will be in the season finale for The Simpsons on May 19. Today, the Icelandic post-rock band posted the above photograph to their website, which shows the whole group Simpsonized in a still shot from their upcoming episode. Sigur Rós stated that they’ve “written and performed more original music for the simpsons than any other outside band in the show’s history.” Among this “original music” will be their own interpretation of “The Simpsons Theme Song.” The Simpsons creator Matt Groening noted, “I’m a longtime fan of Sigur Rós, and we’re honored to bring their Icelandic, ambient moods to our goofy cartoon show.” Sigur Rós joins an elite group of bands to be featured on the goofy cartoon show, including Aerosmith, Spinal Tap, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Ramones, The Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, U2, and The White Stripes.
