Monocle London Café Grand Opening

Housed in a revamped 18th century building in London’s posh Marylebone neighborhood, the two-floor Monocle Café is now ready for its debut. As previously reported, the café is an extension of Monocle’s expanding ventures, though it sensibly connects the magazine’s worldly palette and refined aesthetics. The warm wooden interior was developed by renowned designer Yoshitsugu Takagi, in collaboration with Monocle‘s design team. Worldwide and regional detailing includes imported Australian barstools; a custom red-oak counter, and locally-sourced furniture stores, yet the pieces work seamlessly to create a welcoming, comfortable effect. A seasonally adjusted menu and dessert from a renowned chef rounds out some of the details, yet the Monocle Café seems the type of place that demands a visit. The establishment opens officially on April 15.
