Hiroshi “Kirk” Kakiage’s roots in streetwear run deep to say the least, having spent his time as a distributor in the ’90s for seminal staples such as School of Hard Knocks, Hustler and 10.Deep amongst others before setting up EXPANSION in 2002 – a New York-based imprint dedicated to a blend of vintage and street-inspired garments. The 2013 spring/summer dispatch is another dapper collection, showcasing the much-adored Hawaiian print and timeless plaids on a number of button-ups, while khaki and navy blazers are paired with pleated shorts, nodding at seasonal hues and designs. Designed for those with softer, muted palettes, the collection will make an appearance at the brand’s pop-up shop in Nepenthes, New York from March 21, in addition to selected retailers in the coming month.
