Red Bull Perspective - A Skateboard Film

The release of Girl & Chocolate Skateboards’ wittily-named combination video prompted a hefty discussion on the direction of skate media. Visual in nature, the skateboarding community pondered its preferred aesthetic – whether it’s better to feature large-scale productions or revert back to more lo-fi offerings. It seems only natural that Red Bull would lean towards the former option, having just released a new skateboard ‘film’ in the form of “Red Bull Perspective.” Ryan Sheckler, Zered Bassett, Ryan Decenzo and Torey Pudwill, all household names, were flown around the world to approach something outside of each of their comfort zones. Though skateboarding is about interacting with one’s environment, there’s something slightly menacing about these constructed spots that removes spontaneity. In any regard, this beautifully-shot piece is well worth the watch.
