Where the rhetoric surrounding Japanese label NEIGHBORHOOD seems to point toward an obsession with motorcycle and military culture, LUKER by NEIGHBORHOOD takes a more refined approach. A more British influence is lent to the apparel, as evidenced through LUKER’s 2013 spring/summer releases this month. An early ’80s punk rock aesthetic is recalled in the T-shirts, which are decorated with zippers, lion crest symbolism and vintage cuts, as well as in the use of horizontal black and white stripes throughout sweaters. The shirts, jackets and denim here have a necessarily Western American feel, adding a nice bit of contrast.
