Extending its foray into the China market, UNDERCOVER x Nike GYAKUSOU recently made its debut at select Nike retailers. Combining Jun Takahashi‘s avant-garde approach with Nike‘s functional aesthetics, the unique collaboration looks to the basis of utilitarian philosophy, incorporating modern fabrications to present a striking range. Pivoted by stripped-back and minimalist designs, lightweight textures and nature-friendly hues are employed over zip-up anoraks and tees, while gilets, vests, and an accessories range sees the use of synthetic mesh and woven to allow for both breathability and flexibility in performance. Also exhibited on the floor are updated colorways to the Nike LunarGlide+ 5 and the Nike Lunarspider LT+ 3. HB: What have you looked to add each season?
Jun Takahashi: I just think about maintaining functional beauty as running wear by not just adding, but also deleting.

What new technologies from Nike have you been most excited to use?
Jun Takahashi: All performance materials.

Is there a reason why the use of Nike Free has been absent from the footwear?
Jun Takahashi: No specific reason.

What have you learned from Nike that you have been able to apply to UNDERCOVER?
Jun Takahashi: A combination of functionality and design aesthetics.
