Artistic watchmaker Mr. Jones advances its proclivity for creating conversational timepieces with the release of the “Ambassador” Watch. What’s interesting about this wristwatch is that the colorful skull only appears on its face when the hour and minute hands align. The rest of the time that image appears distorted, in an unorganized mix of colors and shapes. Mr. Jones and its team of designers drew inspiration from the skull that appears on Hans Holbein’s 1533 painting The Ambassadors where an eschewed skull graces the foreground, but can be seen clearly from an acute angle to the right of the picture. “This watch is intended as a homage to Holbein – the sudden appearance of the skull on the watch has the same sense of jolting surprise.” Additional details include a PVD coated 316L stainless steel casing, a Ronda 513 quartz movement, a black leather strap with blue stitching, and water-resistant at 5ATM. Individually numbered and limited to just 100 pieces, the “Ambassador” Watch from Mr. Jones is currently available here for £145 GBP (approximately $234 USD).
