In a slight digression from the menswear and streetwear-centric individuals that our Essentials posts feature, this time around we upended the purse of Los Angeles-based Jessie Andrews. Identifying herself through a diversity of career paths, Andrews got her start in adult entertainment, before making time for various projects with American Apparel and The Hundreds, and heading up the design of her own jewelry line Bagatiba. The line is a nod to her Latvian roots, embodying a phrase that translates to “opulence,” while incorporating mixed metals and natural components across a range of pieces. Recently Jessie has also stepped into stride on the DJ circuit, tapping into the contemporary recurrence of disco-inspired house music with well-received remixes of tracks by Disclosure among others. We caught up with the hybrid-creative before one of her gigs at Fortune Sound in Vancouver to check out what constitutes her key travel pieces. Touting some Munitio hardware, a vintage coin purse, and some sanitizers on deck, the Hypebeasts may not be looking for which lip shine to cop, however a glimpse at the daily items of a porn star DJ is nonetheless quite interesting and uncommon. Keep up with the latest productions and mixes from Jessie on her SoundCloud.
