Hailing from the UK’s Stoke-on-Trent; Matthew Miller studied at the Royal College of Art where his graduate collection was picked by Vogue as one to watch. The British fashion designer went on from this to set up his own label and make his mark on the fashion industry. In this installment of Essentials we find out Miller’s items of most importance and the reasons behind them. In terms of Miller’s signature artistic talents, his ability to combine classic tailoring with sportswear using intricate textile decoration has won him many fans in the industry and this has been rewarded with collaborations with Brioni and Umbro to name just a few. 2013 looks to be a big year for Matthew Miller as he plans a multinational launch with an online retailer along with continuing many international exhibitions of his work and other projects.
Included in Miller’s collection of Essentials we find an insight into his personal style preferences with a leather biker jacket and a pair of trainers from his own collaboration with Oliver Sweeney for the 2013 spring/summer season. Technology is featured with the inclusion of the Apple iPhone 5 and MacBook whilst there is also room for Miller to include his Aitor Throup skull bag, a pair of vintage framed spectacles, ratchet belt, and a wrist-ratchet from Miller’s own 2013 spring/summer collection.
