Arguably two of the biggest rap songs of 2012 were A$AP Rocky‘s “Goldie” and Trinidad Jame$‘ “All Gold Everything,” both of which were performed by the emcees at 106 & Park‘s New Year’s Eve party the other day. But neither of those tracks have achieved the sales status that their names beckon. However, it has been announced that Rocky now officially has a hit record in the bag. As you probably know, an RIAA-certified Gold record in the United States is one that has sold 500,000 copies or more. According to Nielsen SoundScan data, the sales tally for the Harlemite’s current single, “F**kin’ Problems” featuring Drake, 2 Chainz & Kendrick Lamar, is 591,000. The song is also sitting at No. 6 on the Billboard Rap Songs chart. But four spots up on that chart is Macklemore & Ryan Lewis‘ humorous single, “Thrift Shop” featuring Wanz, which also holds the No. 10 spot on Billboard‘s esteemed Hot 100 chart. That’s extremely impressive for a completely independent artist. That’s not all, though. Macklemore took to Twitter today to announce that the song has crossed the coveted Platinum threshold, selling over one million units. Congratulations to Rocky, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis on their great accomplishments.
