HYPETRAK Premiere: Chartreux (Sinden x Jesse Boykins III) - Never A Dull Moment

Eclectic duo Sinden and Jesse Boykins III, collectively known as Chartreux, shares with us the followup to their first single “High Demand,” which debuted on Gilles Peterson’s BBC Radio show. Their latest effort “Never A Dull Moment” is a great exhibition of what a cross Atlantic, genre-bending collaboration can sound like. Boykins’ vocals complement the smooth production work of one of UK’s leading DJs and certainly whets the appetite for their future tracks which will be released from time to time. In addition to the track, Sinden offers an account on how both musicians ended up working together.

I started working with Jesse at the beginning of 2011. It was a frosty evening, New York , Jesse’s home city. We hung out for the first time there and I kicked it with him, Woo and his crew at their studio. It was a positively natural link up, full of creative potential, vibes, inspiration, laughing and riding around the subway where we went to catch his boy Chris Turner perform at a BET event. That evening we chilled after, Jesse played me some joints that were frankly mindblowing. I knew that we’d murder some tracks together. Soon after that we kept our promise and started knocking out some ideas. Whenever Jesse was in London, we’d jump in the studio and spark up a session. We’ve been going to and fro ever since, dropping the dynamic ‘High Demand’, joint hosting a Red Bull lecture and finally unveiling our new moniker, Chartreaux.
