Green Day‘s frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is heading to rehab after going through a meltdown this past weekend at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. Unable to control his emotions towards his band’s set being cut short, Armstrong voiced his opinion when the time left on his performance hit the final minute, letting the venue know that he’s been around since 1988.
I’m not f***ing Justin Bieber, you motherf***ers. You’ve gotta be f***ing joking. This is a f***ing joke. I got one minute — one minute left. Oh, now I got nothing left.
Green Day has since apologized “to those they offended at the iHeartRadio Festival” and said their set was not cut short by Clear Channel, who hosted the two-day festival. Armstrong’s representative has shared that he will be ”seeking treatment for substance abuse,” which has caused the band to postpone some of their upcoming promotional appearances. Green Day’s upcoming album ¡Uno! is set to release September 25 via Reprise Records.
