Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival’s promoters Golden Voice are looking to expand on the widely viewed festival season curtain raiser even further. The Los Angeles Times reports that with their contract up for renewal with the city of Indio in 2013, Golden Voice is looking to lock down the Empire Polo Club location until 2030, and have laid down even bigger plans to the event that already runs on consecutive weekends in April.
Detailed in documents released by the city of Indio pending approval, Empire Polo Club could play host to two additional festivals on top of the two already Coachella holds, as well as the country music-focused Stagecoach Festival. Three of the festivals would happen in the spring and two in the fall, of the latter, one would hold a capacity of 99,000 and the other 75,000.
The proposal serves as a 180-degree turn for Golden Voice and the city of Indio, after talks of a rift between the two over a potential “amusement tax” being imposed by the city. It seems the matter has now been resolved and both parties are looking to a few more prosperous years together.
Further information on the potential expansion can be found on the Los Angeles Times.
