Billy Reid‘s Southern hospitality pervaded his collection for Spring/Summer 2013, the sense of inclusion even extending to 10 women’s looks that were showcased alongside the menswear. That sense of warmth also permeated the clothes making for an inherently wearable assortment of soft, classic silhouettes in dusty earth tones, neutrals and forgiving cuts. Among them, double-breasted suits in greys and tans were prevalent, as were the masculine, subtly tweaked jackets, most notably a range of re-imagined denim truckers and bombers. Meanwhile, pops of mustard, unexpected prints and top-notch materials provided nice counterparts to the more luxurious women’s looks. A shawl-collared evening jacket capped the show, reinforcing the notion of the designer’s all-inclusivity and the collection’s versatility.
