The reappropriation of sneakers for a skateboard is nothing new. We’ve seen an especially dedicated focus involving the transition of soccer shoes including efforts from both Nike and adidas respectively. Nike SB reinvigorate another previous sporting icon with a retooling of the Challenge Court. Originally the weapon of choice for storied American tennis player John McEnroe, the new version’s simplicity is maintained through a careful modification courtesy of Nike SB rider Gino Iannucci. While performance is beefed up via nylon mesh on the upper and full-grain leather, a special lacing system and Lunarlon sockliner/midsole combo ensure optimum comfort. The sneaker releases with a video seen below combining two living legends in their own right in an encounter on the streets of New York. The Nike SB Challenge Court releases August 23 with a retail price of $80 USD.
