This past weekend the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles opened its doors to PLAY MOCA – a three-night event series spanning two months in which music and art collide under one roof. Co-sponsored by Smashbox Cosmetics and and curated by indie music label IAMSOUND and IO ECHO, each night will feature a unique lineup of up-and-coming musicians paired with contemporary visual artists from dance, fashion, multimedia and theatrical backgrounds. Saturday marked a successful opening night for PLAY MOCA with musical performances from Salem and IAMSOUND’s latest signee IO ECHO in conjunction with visual artwork from actress Drew Barrymore. Rounding out the festival, coco, an L.A.-based design group, transformed the space into an otherworldly performance venue with hundreds of over-sized balloons. IAMSOUND and Smashbox will continue to showcase exceptional talent, supporting progressive and independent artists into August as the part 2 and 3 will kick off on the 17th and 24th.
