Arguably one of the most iconic figures to glide on a wooden slab, Stacy Peralta’s multifaceted career includes thrashing as an original member of Zephyr’s Z-Boys, a successful career as a skate company owner, and an acclaimed producer and director. His latest directorial effort, Bones Brigade: An Autobiography, chronicles a team of young skaters that included the likes of Steve Caballero, Rodney Mullen, Lance Mountain, Tony Hawk and many more. Guided under the tutelage of Peralta and his company Powell-Peralta during the ’80s, this band of misfits went on to revolutionize how action sports were marketed, transforming into a cultural movement that’ll inspire future generations to come. Having showcased the film earlier this year at Sundance, the Venice Beach visionary recently sat down for a 10-minute interview on the CBC network to speak about it.
