The first releases from the late DJ John Peel’s legendary record collection has been made available to hear online at The Space. The impressive collection of the late and great English DJ, radio host and producer encompasses “over 26,000 LPs, 40,000 singles and many thousands of CDs,” according to Barker, director of the John Peel Centre. The Centre decided to release the entire collection gradually: “The best way to start the process was to release the details of the first 100 albums, listed alphabetically, from each letter of the alphabet each week.” You can head over here, where you can navigate around an interactive photograph of Peel’s office, and discover photos, home videos, excerpts of old radio shows, and more. This way appears to be kind of nicer than the what is happening to J Dilla’s private collection.
