Prior to having his assets frozen by the New Zealand authorities for issues pertaining to copyright infringement, Megaupload CEO Kim Dotcom commissioned an automotive film with former F1 world champion Kimi Räikkönen and business partner Finn Batato. Taking place at the Nürburgring Nordschleife – and featuring three Mercedes Benz AMG CLK DTMs – the film production involved 30 cameras, 100+ crew, two helicopters, two camera cars and one fixed wing aircraft to capture the necessary footage. In speaking about the project Dotcom commented, “It’s an homage to the Nürburgring, the CLK DTM and Kimi Räikkönen, one of the best drivers in the world. I used to play Forza and Need for Speed on Xbox Live. Those games inspired me to create a video that looks like the replay of a perfect lap on the ‘Ring. I know it isn’t perfect, but I tried.”
