It’s official: we are finally seeing the long-awaited return of indie pop duo Chester French, who made waves back in 2008 and 2009 during their signing to Pharrell’s Star Trak label, which resulted after a bidding war between he and Kanye West. Last month, bandmates and Harvard classmates D.A. Wallach and Maxwell Drummey hit the ground running with the song “Black Girls” and the NSFW accompanying video that spread quickly throughout the internet. While the release let fans know that Chester French is back to making music, the sheer humor in it may have thrown some people off and caused them to take the band’s return with a grain of salt. But today brings the followup to “Black Girls,” which serves as the second single from the band’s forthcoming sophomore album, Music 4 TNGRS. If not anything else, this one should make it clear that Chester French’s new music is to be taken seriously. The song, “Interesting Times,” harkens back to the Chester French that fans came to know and love on their impressive, yet much overlooked debut LP, Love The Future. In the midst of maintaining his position as Spotify’s Artist-In-Residence, it seems Wallach has found time to hone in on his skills as a songwriter, while Drummey is still on top of providing the hard-to-classify musical backdrops. Listen to “Interesting Times” below and head over to iTunes to purchase the single. In addition, an acoustic version of “Interesting Times” is up for grabs as well.
