The speed-thirsty engineers at motorcycle startup firm BRD are taking a novel approach to their creation of the Redshift — an all-electric motorcycle with a unique shift system for power on demand — essentially, a bike without a geared transmission. Sure it’s environmentally friendly too, but that’s hardly the point. They set out to create a bike that not only utilized a groundbreaking power source and conceptual design, but one that was still fast, and meant to be ridden hard in realistic urban environments. They call it a superfluous blend of radical design, practical economics and high performance. This electric technology won’t come cheap, as the Redshift is expected to retail for around $15,000 USD.
