Legendary New York band The Walkmen has announced the release of their seventh album Heaven on June 4 via Fat Possum. The indie rock outfit has linked with producer Phil Ek, who previously worked with Fleet Foxes, The Shins Modest Mouse. Accordingly, the followup to 2010’s Lisbon will feature Fleet Foxes’ Robin Pecknold contributing harmonies to two tracks. In a press release, the band’s frontman Hamilton Leithauser says:
“The detachement you can feel throughout our younger records is gone. We felt like it was time to make a bigger, more generous statement.”
Bandmember Paul Maroon added in regards to working with Phil Ek:
“He made it just a little bit warmer, a little bit stronger. When I play it in my car, it sounds strong, which I love.”
The Walkmen are set to perform on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Heaven‘s release day. Watch a visual teaser for the record above.
