In creating Forza Motorsport 4 for the Xbox 360, Turn 10 Studios worked tirelessly to ensure the game’s audio remained faithful to every real-life vehicle featured in the game. The engineers were able to use Dyno Authority (an outdoor vehicle performance-measuring studio located in a residential Seattle area) to capture all of the vehicle sounds they needed, except for one. The Mazda 787 presented a unique challenge to the team, as its 700-horsepower, four rotor “banshee scream” is a deafening sound unlike anything made by any race car —- a sound so loud, in fact, that the engineers were forced to get a little creative to capture the audio they needed. Check out this video to see just how they did it. The Mazda 787B is now drivable, after downloading the recently released Forza ALMS car pack from the Xbox LIVE store.
