Lady Gaga first to pass 20 million Twitter followers

Lady Gaga has become the first person to reach 20 million followers on Twiiter. The female singer/songwriter who has amassed over 23 million album sales worldwide, reaches the follower milestone less than two months after getting 18 million followers and also being the first to reach 10 million in May 2011. The perceived ‘power of Twitter followers’ Gaga is said to possess has seen her come in for some criticism in recent times, her followers who she calls her “little monsters” have waged online campaigns against the likes of Adele and Madonna. Time will tell if she will get to the next milestone of 30 million, depending of course on her own success and that of Twitter. Justin Bieber has the second most amount of followers, with 18.1 million, while Katy Perry (15.75 million), Shakira (14.56 million) and Rihanna (14.49 million) round off the top five.
