Just last week, John Mayer announced an 18-city spring tour to coincide with the May 22 release of his new album, Born and Raised. But unfortunately, it looks like fans will have to turn their tickets in for refunds. On his website, the multi-platinum-selling, Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and musician has issued a solemn statement announcing that a recurring throat condition stands in the way of him and the stage. In September, it was revealed that Mayer had been diagnosed with an inflammation known as a granuloma, which, when located in the throat near the vocal chords, can put even the most acclaimed voices out of commission. He underwent surgery for it in October, but it seems that didn’t do the trick. Instead of performing Born and Raised for his fans like he had planned and so badly desired to, Mayer will release the LP as scheduled and get right to work on writing his sixth album.
