Prior to KiD CuDi‘s “Higher Up” release back in ’09 on the Dr. Dre-sampled beat, the melodic-heavy instrumental has long been a mainstay by hip-hop heavyweights. Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre rapped over the instrumental in “Imagine” off the The Blue Carpet Treatment, followed by a remix with Ja Rule and Busta Rhymes. Therefore it’s only appropriate for one of hip-hop’s famed recruits to step up and show off a piece of his mind. Here, Jaden Smith drops a few intimate verses with KiD CuDi on chorus, adding more spirit to the already harmonious track. There was speculation that the two would collaborate on KiD CuDi’s forthcoming album Indicud, so perhaps this release comes as a teaser for a further alliance.
