Former Nike Basketball Promo Product Manager Kyle Yamaguchi and his eyewear label LOOK/SEE has teamed up with design studio The Pressure and fellow former Nike Sportswear Senior Graphic Designer, Adam R. Garcia, for a pair of collaborative sunglasses. LOOK/SEE’s first artist collaboration, the glasses come inspired by Garcia’s Mexican-American heritage and are dubbed the “Sun God” as a nod to Aztec sun god Huitzilopochtli. Offering dark grey 100% UV-protectant CR-39 lenses, the sunglasses feature a custom acetate frame with Garcia’s hand-drawn, Aztec-inspired graphics throughout. Symbolizing the blood and human sacrifice associated with Huitzilopochtli, the interior of the frames appear bright red with a metal “bleeding heart” inlay along the right temple while a metal hummingbird – representing Huitzilopochtli’s translation to “hummingbird on left” in the Aztec language of Nauhuatl – appears inlaid in that of the right. Limited to just 100 pairs, the “Sun God” is now available from LOOK/SEE online for $75 USD.
