Committed to the mission of providing best-in-class apparel for the active worker, Carhartt has been a favorite among hard laborers and urban-dwelling utilitarians for more than a century. Having nearly cornered the workwear market with season after season of dependable garb, the family-owned clothier has recently switch gears to compete with the more style-forward brands that aim to produce functional fashion for the common bloke. This initiative has been charged by the creation of its Work In Progress diffusion line and one individual that can be seen leading this resurgence is Alex Russell as the Head of UK PR, Marketing and Merchandising for Carhartt WIP. Hailing from Southern England, this towering ginger was trained as an illustrator but his love of fashion and retail led him to his current position of the last 4 years. When not building one of our favorite workwear labels, Russell heads the creative design studio of UNKLE AL Ltd, enjoying some of the best eats in London and counteracts his subsequent “itis” with an unhealthy dose of coffee. Offering a look at his personal style and daily must-haves, Alex Russell unloads his Carhartt tote for our Essentials series.
