Unlike many of its ancient civilization counterparts, China looks to the dragon as a symbol of power over natural forces, providing strength and good luck to its people. As the Chinese New Year steadily approaches, Nike looks to channel this likeness into a pack of specially designed sneakers commemorating the Year of the Dragon and showcasing the shoe manufacturer’s creative design. Drawing inspiration from the Chinese zodiac for the 11th straight year, this pack of four models – the Air Force 1 Low Supreme, Air Jordan 2012, Nike Kobe VII System Supreme and Nike Zoom KD IV – will all feature appropriate details of the mythical creature. The reasoning behind the choice of four models is to echo the Chinese dragon rising out of four ancient seas, offering added luck for the new year. Blending the pinnacle of footwear technology with ancient folklore, this collection celebrates the past and present with elite franchise models as well as a refreshing depiction of the dragon’s nobility. Be sure to check back as additional release information will surely circulate the web soon.
