It was last season’s collection when designer Nicolas Ghesquière took a different route for Balenciaga’s menswear division. From a futuristic, technical, and sportier scheme to a more mature and traditional fashion, it should come as no surprise that Ghesquière has effectively made such changeover knowing that the line’s successful counterpart – the womenswear division – has been on track with his progressive ethos, highly acclaimed structured silhouettes and meticulous attention to detail. For the brand’s latest collection, Ghesquière focuses on tailoring and fit. Cut slim with an emphasis on waist and contour, the suits and trousers are sharply tailored with a minimal construction, while an array of outerwear, including slim overcoats and re-imagined cropped jackets, complete the seasonal lineup.
