Nas & Amy Winehouse - Just Friends (Urban Noize Remix)

Since the untimely death of Amy Winehouse back in July, the British songbird has been a frequent topic in rapper Nas’s Tweets and press interviews. Aside from being fellow creatives, the two formed a close friendship over the years that was reflected through music. In fact, a quick examination of the production on “In My Bed” off of Winehouse’s debut album, Frank, and the title and lyrical content of “Mr. Jones” off of her multi-platinum-selling, Grammy Award-winning sophomore LP, Back To Black, shows just how much of an effect Mr. (Nasir) Jones had on her. Well-known remixers Urban Noize decided to pay tribute to their relationship by mashing up Winehouse’s “Just Friends” off of Back To Black with the verses from “Hey Nas” off of 2002’s God’s Son, both of which happen to be songs produced by the talented Salaam Remi. Hopefully an official collaboration between Winehouse and Nas will be unveiled sometime, but if not, then remixes such as this one will have to do.
