A musical dedicated to the life of Kanye West has been announced. A drama society from the University of Sydney in Australia has confirmed they will be staging an hour-long production, entitled Kanye: The Musical. According to the production’s official Facebook page, the show’s synopsis reads:
“This is a story of a struggle against the man to become the man. It’s about a guy who took a shot at the throne and didn’t miss. This is the tale of Kanye. It won’t let the truth get in the way and will be a lot of fun.”
Philip Rosser, a member of the university’s drama society, and writing partner Damien Higginbottom have composed all new songs for the musical and told the LA Times that all the tracks have been written in the style of the rapper. He said:
I’m a big Kanye fan. I thought that a musical in his honour would be a lot of fun to put on. I really just meant the show to be something fun for my friends to see, and I’m pretty excited by all the attention it’s been getting.
Kanye: The Musical runs from September 5 to 7 as part of Sydney’s Verge Festival.
