The Beatles didn’t do it. Elvis, Madonna, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Jay-Z neither. Katy Perry, however, has equaled Michael Jackson’s record for U.S. number one singles on an album. The pop singer has topped the Billboard charts with five No. 1 hits from her Teenage Dream LP. This is not only the first time that a recording artist managed to do this since Michael Jackson released five tracks from Bad which hit the top spot between 1987-88, but the “California Gurl” is also the first female artist that has done this.
After bringing forth chart-toppers with “California Gurls” (feat. Snoop Dogg), “Firework,” “E.T.” feat. Kanye West and the LP’s title track, Katy Perry celebrates the top spot for her latest single “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F).”
Michael Jackson previously had five songs that gained the number one spot including “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You,” “Bad,” “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Man In The Mirror” and “Dirty Diana.”
