The most unexpected moment came courtesy of last night’s MTV Video Music Awards festivities of none other than Beyoncé Knowles. While the industry was debating on whether she will assist The Throne on stage or not, the songstress turned in a stellar performance of “Love on Top” which is taken from her new album 4. “Tonight I want you to stand up on your feet, I want you to feel the love that’s growing inside of me,” Queen Bey said as an introduction to the song, hinting to the world the news that she had alluded to on the black carpet just an hour before when she cradled her belly and teased that she would be making some kind of “announcement.” Then the singer unbuttoned her sparkly jacket and rubbed her belly, announcing her pregnancy to the world. The camera then cut to Jay-Z and Kanye West in the audience and their over-the-top jubilant reaction.
In an interview aft CNN interviewer Piers Morgan in June, Beyoncé stated that she wanted to get pregnant.
“I feel like a woman. I feel like I’m very aware of who I am. I feel great and I feel like 30 is the ideal age [to start a family], because you’re mature enough to know who you are and to have your boundaries and your standards, and not be afraid, too polite – but you’re young enough to be a young woman. I’m so looking forward to it.”
