Despite the lukewarm reactions on Beyoncé’s new LP 4, the album is expected to debut at No. 1 on next week’s album charts. As HITS Daily Double points out, 4 is likely to sell 275,000-300,000 copies in its first week based on preliminary figures. This would mark the songstress’s fourth No. 1 solo debut on the Billboard 200. Big Sean, whose G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam release Finally Famous also hit shelves this week is expected to sell 90,000-95,000 units. Mind you that these numbers are not final and are subject to change.
Regarding hard facts numbers, Jill Scott celebrates her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart as her fourth studio effort, The Light of the Sun earned the top spot with 135,000 sold according to Nielsen SoundScan. Bon Iver’s self-titled sophomore effort lands on No. 2 this week. According to Billboard, the record sold 104,000 copies in its debut week and marks Bon Iver’s strongest showing to date. Jill Scott’s new album The Light of the Sun sold more, to debut at #1.
