The relatively unknown Bill Gaytten has been announced as the successor to John Galliano’s eponymous label. Despite being a relatively surprising announcement given his relative obscurity, however, Gaytten was perhaps the man best suited to carry on Galliano’s legacy given his pedigree with the brand. Having worked under Galliano for 23 years, the 51-year-old designer represents an increasing trend of in-house promotion which also included Sarah Button at Alexander McQueen and Olivier Rousteing at Balmain.
