Sophie Bramly "1981 & +" Exhibition @ 12MAIL Gallery

During the early ’80s, Sophie Bramly was one of the first to witness the beginnings of hip-hop in the Bronx. Her friends at the time were Afrika Bambaataa, Futura, Kurtis Blow and Crazy Legs. She took photographs of these legends in the making, creating a subliminal image of their difficult routine with endless talent and energy. Here is how Sophie tells the story, introducing this unusual exhibition titled “1981 & +” at the 12MAIL Gallery in Paris. The show officially opens on June 17, 2011, running through September 2, 2011. A limited edition book will also be released during the opening.
