Brownbook & HYPEBEAST: Hind Beljafla - Das

At the end of 2010, HYPEBEAST undertook an extensive video project with Dubai-based magazine Brownbook. Through a series of short videos, we hoped to document and tell the story of a select few creatives who are helping develop the creativity landscapes of both the Middle East and Northern Africa. Too often, it seems as though these cultures has been viewed through only one particular lens as it offers so much more than what many have been subjected to.

Incorporating local tradition with influences from high-end fashion, Hind Beljafla and her sister Reem run the successful fashion label Das. Based around the Abaya, Hind has continued to be avant-garde in everything from material application to her pursuit of inspirational locations around the world. While the influence from abroad is something they embrace, the Abaya in itself is a specialty piece looking to incorporate the sensibilities of high-fashion.
