Freelance Whales – Girl U Want

A late gift from last Saturday’s Record Store Day appears. New York indie rock outfit Freelance Whales offer their rendition of the 1980 New Wave hit “Girl U Want” by Devo. The band switched the tone of the original version and transform it into an intensive ballad with acoustic strings high- and low-pitched synths. The tune is one-half of a split 7” which they have put out with their tourmate Foals that reinterpreted Swedish House Mafia’s club smash “One.” Listen below!
