French high fashion brand Moncler announces its collaboration with German eyewear specialists

French high fashion brand Moncler announces its collaboration with German eyewear specialists Mykita, presenting a small line of sunglasses this year. Although the two brands are relatively different – with Moncler specializing on premium sports-centric apparels and Mykita on über streamlined eyewear – Moritz Krueger, chief executive officer and creative director of Mykita, stated that two entities have “a shared set of values, a rather traditionalist approach and similar brand philosophies. Both brands combine style with constant technological research in order to improve and develop products that are ahead of their time.” Also, this intriguing collaboration pays homage to the first men who reached the summit of the second highest mountain in the world. Lino Lacedelli and Achille Compagnoni, both wore specially-made down jackets from Moncler during their expedition.
Focusing on contemporary design and practical function appropriate both on the ski slopes and urban setting, the sunglasses dubbed Lino and Achille are made of Mylon, an award-winning polyamide-based material developed and patented by the German eyewear brand. Extremely light, the sunglasses feature a swept-back frame edge, with Achille being more avant-garde thanks to its distinct frame, while Lino is said to be a modernized version of the utilitarian glacier snow glasses. These sunglasses are set to come in three colors including black, red and blue. In addition, the Barberini mineral glass lenses will reveal both brands’ logo when breathed upon.
