Memento Mori by Fiona Krüger

For her thesis project, ECAL-graduate Fiona Krüger created this stunning representation of the theme of mortality in watchmaking. Titled Memento Mori, the watch blends imagery from traditional Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos with the visage of a human skull. Intricately designed, the watch face is detailed with gold metalwork while silver and mineral glass comprise the casing. Blue hands powered by an ETA 2824 mechanism contrast against the complex features of the watch itself. A simple calf leather band with matching silver buckle ties this piece together.
