Although the estimated first week for Take Care sales were much higher than the official number, Drake will still land on the top spot of the Billboard album charts. According to HITS Daily Double, the Toronto native’s sophomore effort earned approximately 659,190 units sold in its debut week. This also signifies the second highest opening week sales number in rap, keeping it in the family as he comes up behind Young Money boss Lil Wayne, who owns the highest debut week with Tha Carter IV, with 964,000 total units sold during the first seven days.
Drake’s 2010 debut LP, Thank Me Later, earned first week sales of 447,000 units sold. Take Care surpassed that amount by roughly 200,000 copies.
