Los Angeles-based band Pollyn teamed up with Nozinja and Nurse Matlala of South Africa’s Shangaan Electro for their bugged out remix and video for Pollyn’s song “How Small We Are,” which was originally off their recently released album Living In Patterns. The video and song was recorded in Soweto, South Africa and features Nurse Matlala, rocking CD earrings and a pink/purple top. Pollyn band member, Adam Jay Weissman, explains that “the idea was to give [Nozinja and Nurse Matlala] the lyrics and have them translate them to create their own version of the song. They had free reign to do their thing. The track has a new brevity to it, several beats teetering insistently on as Nurse pontificates sagely over it all.” The song is part of Pollyn’s free EP which features this remix, the original, and a remix from Modeselektor’s Monkeytown Records producer, eLan.
