Last week, renowned jazz singer Tony Bennett officially became the oldest person to ever have an album sit at No.1 on the Billboard Top 200. His chart-topping project, Duets II, showcases the 85-year-old singing songs alongside some of the most well-known artists of today, including John Mayer, Willie Nelson, Mariah Carey, Carrie Underwood and the late Amy Winehouse. Although Bennett’s collaboration with the recently deceased British crooner was one of the catalysts behind the buzz surrounding the album, his standout duet with avant-garde pop star Lady Gaga has risen some eyebrows and opened some ears as well. An extremely high quality video of Bennett and Gaga was shot in the studio as they recorded their rendition of “The Lady Is A Tramp,” a song that was originally heard in the 1937 musical Babes In Arms, but was made most famous by Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald in the 1950s. Watch above as the past meets the present to show that no matter what the popular sound of the moment might be, great voices can always come together to create something timeless.
