Nike Sportswear Air Zoom Tiempo - Jupiter Desphy

Continuing with the unveiling of their Air Zoom Tiempo Collection, Nike Sportswear give us a look into a new colorway, designed by Undefeated’s Jupiter Desphy. The shoes, sporting a Los Angeles Lakers color scheme, feature an alternate swoosh inside much like the previously releases Eddie Cruz-designed AF1, high visibility reflective material and slim profile. A release is slated for June 20th, 2009, exclusively though UNDFTD La Brea and Nike Sportswear 21 Mercer. A brief Jupiter Desphy bio can be seen below.

Jupiter Desphy’s first bicycle was a no-brand metallic blue and white number made to resemble a motorcycle. We’re talking full-sized chrome fenders, a mock gas tank, training wheels, and of course, handle bar streamers. Basically, he has been riding dirty since the tender age of five. Soon, training wheels gave way to BMX bikes, which in turn gave way to a skateboard – which can be credited for getting Jupiter from Las Vegas to Los Angeles in 1993.

With a long-standing love for all things artistic, he found design jobs at a myriad of companies. Creative jobs led to creative friends and in 2005, Jupiter and pals formed the Casual Suspects Bicicleta Crue (CS). Sort of like a book club, except instead of reading it was riding, and instead of books it was BMX. Jupiter soon found himself on a fixed gear bicycle and was immediately addicted to the speed, freedom and uncontrollable-yet-controlled feelings.

Today, Jupiter pays his rent as the designer, website developer and all-around jack-of-all-trades for Undefeated. He also moonlights as a photographer, DJ and sometime journalist.
