We at HB hope you guys have had an eventful first few days in 2009 as we feature our first set of weekly picks for 2009.
Isetan x Leica M8.2 Camera
A camera few will ever own gets an even more exclusive and most likely expensive aesthetic upgrade. Although most enthusiasts probably like the clean sleek look of the original in black, I’m sure the strong backing of Leica by fans will make this a definite collectors item.
While much of Kitsune’s fashion offerings have been relatively subtle and simple, I’ve always looked forward to their season Pierre Hardy team-ups. Always featuring sick colors on your traditional lace-up make for a piece of footwear in a class of its own.
Puma 2009 Japanese Monster Pack
The conceptual aspect of this collection is interesting but I thought the execution was pretty well done. The choice to focus on material selection inevitably aided in creating some very wearable models.
Johnny Ace Studio x Made by Monsters “Blackout” Frankenfink
Not always having the chance to see everything up close and in the flesh, the FrankenFink is definitely one of the most peculiar toys you’ll see. Featuring a number of cool little details including the exposed plumber’s crack, the BlackOut version makes it a little more difficult to see the highlights but is definitely redeemed by an all-black colorway that can rarely do wrong.
Know1edge 08-09 Holiday Collection by Daniel Wu
With an upcoming interview to offer some views and insights into the collection, the Daniel Wu headed Know1edge holiday collection was of great interest. I’m always interested to see how designers/artists etc express themselves over unfamiliar mediums and in Daniel’s case moving from architecture to fashion.
So stoked to see the return of the Presto’s. I patiently await the Presto Free which I can only image is on the way and will represent probably one of the best upper x sole hybrid combos EVER.
With Visvim seemingly rising in price each season and definitely not helped by a climbing Japanese Yen, look to something authentic like Arrow. The double vamp style may not be as clean, but the heritage and quality are all there.
A nice little flip by one of Subcrew designer’s KS. Another sick gray colored release to round out 2008.
TITLEOnitsuka Tiger 2009 January SECK MT
While many vintage basketball styles are often marked by chunky profiles, the SECK MT from Onitsuka Tiger seemed to have gone against the grain in the 70s. Nice streamlined profile and some basic colorways lay a good foundation for what I hope are some new developments later this year.
Featuring an influential group of France’s finest, I think these blogs will open up a new series of fun and entertaining blogs. The Ed Banger crew always seem to keep things super fun and chilled and will provide a look into their globetrotting ways.
