The highlights of our chat included some background information about himself, his influences, and his innovative style of art. Mark also discusses with us the details on his recent work with his good friend Kaws, and his upcoming snowboard project with Nike, which will be released later this year. His upcoming projects and installations will definetly be something to lookout for.
General releases are often a hit or miss when it comes to sneakerheads. In some cases, it’s knocked out of the park and that’s what keeps us coming back for more. Recently released to all major athletic stores and e-tailers like Eastbay, the Nike Anthracite pack is just that. The simple color scheme alongside highly detailed accents is eye-catching in a modern yet old school way. The standout sneaker in this pack is the Blazer High, which was recently seen on hip-hop superstar Jay-Z during a concert in California. The other two sneakers that make up this pack are the Air Max LTD and the Vandal Low.

Supreme has just released their Western Conference Caps. This cap comes in 4 colorways: white, black, green, and blue. The cap includes a graphic very similar to the San Antonio Spurs logo, with the “U” in Supreme being replaced by a spur. The graphics on the black and white caps also feature similar color combinations as the Spurs logo. It seems like the folks at Supreme might have a winner in mind for the Western Conference this year.

With so much attention being paid to fitteds and 5-panels, the classic trucker hat has received mediocre reviews for the past few years. Making its return this summer as previewed by Dave Ortiz in DQM’s Spring Collection, are two awesome colorways of the freebird hat. A patriotic red, white and blue color scheme features the embroidered American Eagle with the words “And this bird you cannot change” on the under bill.
But for those who are too used to wearing fitteds, DQM has released several New Era 5950 Fitteds as well. Available soon at DQM.
Music and art have always gone hand in hand when it comes to collaborations. While graffiti is always viewed as being closely tied to hip-hop culture, it can just work just as well in a rock setting. OG graf head Slick did up this giant inflatable pig for Roger Waters (of Pink Floyd fame) for Sunday Night’s Coachella show. The pig (representing a critique of capitalist greed) was used as a giant prop that emerged when he played a version of “Pigs”.
On a related note it’s reported that concert organizers are offering $10,000 for the safe return of the inflatable pig, as well as 4 lifetime Coachella passes. If you have any info on it’s whereabouts please email lostpig@coachella.com.
