Nike to buy adidas = No Comment

In what would amount to a takeover of epic proportions, Nike has quickly refuted claims of a takeover bid for their fellow sportswear competitors, adidas. A few days ago, spokespeople for Nike quickly refused to comment regarding the news while a Frankfurt trader said its most likely the resurfacing of an old rumor. However adidas stock holders did receive a small boost from the circulating rumors. Myself being far from an anti-trust virtuoso, I don’t even know if something like this would go through. Nike Air Force 1 "Coach K" 800th Win Commerarative Package

On March 1st, Duke’s college basketball coach Mike Krzyewski (a.k.a. Coach K) joined an elite legion of college basketball coaching greats as he entered the 800 win club. To commemorate this remarkable feat, Chi McBride and Nike’s Innovative Kitchen were approached by Eric Lautenbach, head of NIKE college basketball to create a special 1 of 1 Air Force 1. The end project is a sneaker with no detail overlooked. The box itself is constructed of old basketball floor boards with the names of Coach K’s parents, brother, wife and three daughters lasered into the box. The gray flannel and brass eyelet upper was inspired by the cadet uniform jackets worn by Coach K as a player under another legendary coach Bob Knight at Westpoint. A truly remarkable piece of footwear from Nike. Source: RockDeep @ NikeTalk

Nike Be True Chronicles Splatter | Foot Action

With the Dunk out of commission for many years, stores were reluctant to take a chance on the Dunk… enter Foot Action, one of the few big mall retailers to make the jump. As part of the relaunch, Nike created a special pack of Dunks exclusive to Foot Action. From there the Dunks would go on to be re-sold throughout skate shops resulting in the rebirth of the Dunk. The Nike Be True Chronicles also documents the Splatter Dunk. Definitely not a new look among artists bombing around as their shoes would always succumb to splattered paint death. However designers at Nike went against the grain and created a pair of splattered Dunks. Despite the concept, a clean colorway kept things in check and creating a classic. View this latest edition of the Be True Chronicles over at Nike.

Sony Europe "Bubbles" Commercial

Sony Europe "Bubbles" Commercial

Sony has always looked to innovation and excitement to advertise their top of the Sony Bravia products. We saw it back in October as a city ran rampant with rabbit after rabbit made of Play Doh. To promote Sony’s imaging collection (including video cameras), their ingenuity brought them to Miami where the city was literally turned into a city of foam with a gigantic foam maker manned by an 18 man crew: Foam Maker Stats -2.8 meters in diameter. -Uses 1,000 liters of water to create 2,000,000 liters of foam per minute. -Can fill up an Olympic swimming pool in only 24 seconds. -It is estimated that 460 million liters of foam will be made by the end of the commercial’s production. We’re definitely looking forward to seeing the final product for this commercial. Stay tuned for more details. Source: Josh Spear, Commercial Archive
